Coordinating Minister Yusril: Philippine Authority Has Prepared The Transfer Of Mary Jane
JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration and Correction Yusril Ihza Mahendra said Philippine authorities had prepared the transfer of death row convict Mary Jane Veloso.
"Starting yesterday, several staff from the Philippine Ministry of Justice, the police have also come here, and have prepared their journey," said Yusril at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta as reported by ANTARA, Monday, December 16.
Currently Mary Jane is in the Pondok Bambu Penitentiary, Jakarta. She is scheduled to be flown to the Philippines on Tuesday (17/12) night or Wednesday (18/12) in the morning.
Yusril said that Mary Jane's transfer to the Philippines was through a prisoner transfer mechanism and her agreement had been signed between the Indonesian and Philippine governments.
Deputy Coordinator of Immigration and Corrections at the Coordinating Ministry for Human Rights, Imipas I Nyoman Gede Surya Mataram, said Mary Jane would leave for the Philippines via Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang, Banten.
All travel documents and tickets for Mary Jane's return have been provided by the Philippine Embassy.
According to Surya, Mary Jane will be taken to the airport on Tuesday (17/12) at around 22.00 WIB. The death row convict, who was later identified as a victim of human smuggling, will later be picked up by representatives of the Philippine Embassy.
