Mitigation Of Christmas And New Year's Lalin In Pekalongan, Police Admit That There Is No Ring Road Becomes An Obstacle

JAKARTA - The Pekalongan City Police have mitigated several points to anticipate traffic congestion ahead of the Christmas and New Year 2025 holidays.

Head of the Traffic Unit of the Pekalongan City Police, AKP Yuna Ahdiyah, said that there were several obstacles in overcoming traffic congestion during the 2025 Christmas and New Year celebrations because this area did not have a ring route.

"There are still two level crossings that cross arterial routes such as on Jalan KH Mansyur which have the potential to cause traffic congestion during Christmas and New Year 2025. Based on data, there are 36 of them, namely at the KH Mas Mansyur road crossing due to the increasing intensity of train travel volume," he said in Pekalongan, Monday, December 16, which was confiscated by Antara.

From the results of previous evaluations, he continued, the intensity of train volume can reach 23 minutes but now it is 12-13 minutes passing.

"Then, when there is a double-track train that crosses it takes about 7 minutes to stop, it causes the queue of vehicles to reach 300 meters," he said.

Yuna said, to anticipate the congestion of vehicle traffic flow, her party made efforts to divert it through the inner city road, deploy personnel, coordinate with Pemalang Police to divert four-wheeled vehicles or trucks via toll roads.

"This is an effort to reduce the volume of vehicles that will pass in the city. The peak of vehicle traffic density occurs on December 21-22, 2024 because it coincides with school holidays," he said.
