Houses Damaged Due To Disasters In Cianjur Increase, 4,061 Refugees
The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Cianjur Regency, West Java, reported that the number of houses damaged by hydrometeorological disasters in South Cianjur increased to 3,098 units, which affected 1,309 families or around 4,061 people who were forced to evacuate.
The Head of BPBD Cianjur, Asep Kusmana Wijaya, explained that on Sunday, December 15, 2024, the latest data shows the addition of the number of refugees spread across 14 sub-districts, along with the high rainfall and widespread ground movement.
"Refuges are spread across 14 sub-districts, namely Agrabinta, Campaka, Campakamulya, Cibinong, Cijati, Cikadu, Kadupandak, Leles, Naringgul, Pagelaran, Pasirkuda, Sindangbarang, Sukanagara, Takokak, and Tanggeung," said Asep Kusmana.
BPBD also noted that 3,098 housing units were damaged by disasters, including floods, landslides, and ground movement. In detail, 701 houses were heavily damaged, 835 houses were moderately damaged, and 1,562 houses were slightly damaged.
Until now, the Cianjur Housing and Settlement Areas Service (Disperkim) is still collecting data on houses affected by the disaster, so it is possible that the number of damaged houses will continue to grow in several sub-districts.
"This data collection is carried out in the context of providing stimulant assistance from the central government, which will be verified first before being submitted through the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB)," added Asep Kusmana.
In addition, BPBD also recorded damage to infrastructure, such as 358 road points, 67 irrigation canals, and 47 bridges. The affected public facilities include 81 places of worship, 5 health facilities, and 54 educational facilities.

"The data on the impact of this disaster will continue to be updated, with the hope that assistance will be received soon and the affected people can return to their homes soon," said Asep Kusmana.
Regarding the ongoing Emergency Response (TDB) of ground movement, BPBD has established public kitchens in 14 sub-districts and also established logistics warehouses in Sukanagara District, so that the distribution of logistical assistance can reach the evacuation site more quickly.
The health posts established also continue to provide health services for refugees who need treatment, with the help of health volunteers who are ready to go to the field to provide emergency handling, including visiting refugee camps and emergency tents.
