During The Christmas And New Year Period, The Ministry Of Trade-Aprindo Discounts 70 Percent Of Basic Materials

TANGERANG - There is a 70 percent discount on the six basic commodities (bapok) in retail throughout Indonesia given by the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) together with the All-Indonesian Retail Entrepreneurs Association (Aprindo).

The price cuts on some of the basic commodities of the community's needs will be launched in the 'EPIC' program during the Christmas and New Year periods.

"There will be six products that will indeed be supported by Aprindo," said Director of Business and Trade Development at the Ministry of Trade, Septo Soeprianto in Tangerang, quoted from ANTARA, Saturday, December 14.

He said the price discount programs for the six items were rice, cooking oil, sugar, eggs, shallots and garlic. These products get a price discount of 70 percent in each retailer throughout Indonesia.

"The price discount was launched from 22-31 December 2024. The name of the program is EPIC (Every Purchase Is Cheat)," he said.

Meanwhile, Aprindo Chairman, Solihin said that the EPIC program was a breakthrough to reduce price increases on items needed for Christmas and New Year's needs.

"I hope that the 70 percent discount can boost sales in the midst of the current economic condition," he said.

He said this discount would come into effect on all retail on December 22 until the end of this year.

With this program, it is hoped that it can be used to spur people's purchasing power, which in turn can support economic growth.

"This applies to Aprindo members, not only retail, supermarkets or minimarkets," he said.
