Leaders Of Islamic Countries Ask For Military Operations In Gaza To Be Stopped Immediately

JAKARTA - Leaders of Muslim countries and Saudi Arabia have asked that military operations in Gaza must be stopped and hold Israel accountable for "crimes" against Palestinians.

The leaders of Islamic countries consist of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan, Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. The meeting of leaders of Islamic countries was initiated by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, ruler of de facto Saudi Arabia.

Prince Mohammed during his speech condemned Israel's military actions against Palestinians. He called on the UN Security Council to immediately end Israel's humanitarian abuses.

"We are facing a humanitarian catastrophe that proves the failure of the UN Security Council and the international community to end the violations Israel has committed against international law," he said.

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan called for a ceasefire that harms Palestinians to be stopped for good, not in just a few hours.

"What we need in Gaza is not a hiatus for several hours, but rather we need a permanent ceasefire," Erdogan said at the summit.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said Palestinians were facing a war of genocide and asked the United States to end Israel's 'aggression'.

Unfortunately, as some leaders of Islamic countries called for termination of diplomatic relations with Israel, several Algerian-led countries rejected the policy. They said they would keep the communication channels open to the government led by Netanyahu.
