Court Rejects Pretrial Application Of Suspect Of Rempang Batam Chaos

Batam District Court rejected the pretrial application of the national advocacy team for Rempang, regarding the determination of 30 police suspects for the rioting case in front of the Batam Concession Agency (BP) office which occurred on September 11, 2023. Tunggal Judge Yudith Wirawan in the verdict hearing at the Batam District Court, said that the investigation carried out by the Police as the respondent, to assign 30 suspects in 25 cases, was in accordance with the applicable legal procedures and mechanisms. "Judging in the exception, stating the applicant's exception cannot be accepted. Rejecting the pretrial for all," said Yudith, quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, November 6. The trial was divided into three courtrooms and each room was led by a single judge with the same case and rejecting the same application, namely Judge Yudith Wirawan, Judge Eddy sameaputty and Judge Sapri Tarigan. Judge Yudith explained the reasons for rejecting the pretrial application submitted by the national advocacy team for Rempang. One of them is evidence obtained by the Police at the chaos on September 11, 2023, which according to him is legal, because it shows a criminal act. In addition, the evidence held by the Police in ensnaring the 30 suspects is considered very strong and convincing in accordance with applicable legal provisions. Meanwhile, one of the national advocacy team for Rempang Manjabat said, his party still respects the judge's decision in the decision.

However, in the future, he said, his party will continue to provide escort to the judicial process in the future. "We will continue to oversee the judicial process, until the end of the decision of our client, whether it is true that they are criminal acts or not," he said.
