Dozens Of Cars Were Ticketed For Emission Tests In 5 Locations In Jakarta Today
JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government and Polda Metro Jaya again held a ticket for vehicles that did not pass today's emission test. As a result, dozens of motorcyclists and motorbikes were subject to fines due to their vehicle failing to pass the emission test.
"Four-wheeled vehicles that did not pass the 20 emission test and two-wheeled vehicles did not pass the 37 vehicle emission test," said Head of the DKI Jakarta Environmental Agency Asep Kuswanto in his statement, Wednesday, November 1.
The reinforced 2-wheeled vehicle is subject to a fine of Rp. 250 thousand, while the 4-wheeled vehicle is Rp. 500 thousand. The amount of the fine is regulated in Article 285 Paragraph 1 and Article 276 of Law No. 22 of 2009 concerning Road Traffic and Transportation (LLAJ).
Meanwhile, the four-wheeled vehicles that passed the emission test were 133 with a percentage of 84 percent of those raided and two-wheeled vehicles passing the 122 vehicle emission test or 76 percent.
The five emission test raid points held today are Jalan Perintis Kemerdekaan, the north side of Carefour Lebak Bulus, Jalan Lodan, Jalan Pemuda, and Jalan Puri Lingkar Luar.
Asep said that the emission test ticket will be valid until the end of 2023. The main target of vehicles that will be terminated and carried out to check exhaust emissions is vehicles that are more than three years old, as seen from the police number.
"Vehicles over the age of 3 years are not targeted, but indeed we ask that all vehicles passing through these points, which are estimated to be more than 3 years old, we will stop their vehicle age and then carry out emission test checks," said Asep.
However, vehicles that are not yet 3 years old can also be raided. In general, police officers and the Department of Transportation will randomly stop vehicles to check their emission tests and impose a ticket if they are declared not to have passed.
However, Asep said that vehicles that emit thick smoke will definitely be raided regardless of the age of their vehicles. "Indeed, if it is easy, the eye of the vehicle emitting smoke is quite thick, most likely the emission is not maintained," added Asep.
He asked the public to routinely care for and supervise motorized vehicles that they use to move in order to continue to pass the emission test.
Furthermore, Asep said, this emission test ticket will be carried out once a week. In fact, his party will randomly hold an emission test ticket several times a week.
"We hope that the purpose of the implementation of this emission test ticket is to increase public awareness of the importance of maintaining the emission of private motorized vehicles owned by all residents," explained Asep.
"So, it is hoped that in the future the better air quality, public awareness will also increase, so the air quality will also be even better and air pollution will also hopefully decrease," he added.
