YOGYAKARTA The government will provide two housing purchase incentives. Previously, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) stated that the government would provide relaxation in the property sector.
Jokowi said the government would bear the tax cost of increasing the value for each purchase of a house and free administration costs of IDR 4 million.
"Providing incentives to the property and housing world to maintain our economic momentum. We may decide that VAT is borne by the government," Jokowi said at the BNI Investor Daily Summit 2023 in Central Jakarta, Tuesday, October 24, 2023.
"For housing where people are low-income, whose economy is below, administrative assistance will also be provided. The Rp4 million (administrative costs for buying MBR houses) is borne by the government so that it will trigger our economy," said Jokowi again.

In addition to the above criteria, MBR must meet other requirements to get incentives for exemption from the imposition of VAT, such as not having a tax debt and having reported an Annual Notification Letter (SPT) of income tax (PPh) for the last 2 years of taxation and SPT for the last 3 tax period which is an obligation for individuals who have a Taxpayer Number (NPWP).

Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto said the incentive was given to encourage the growth of the property industry.
"In a follow-up meeting related to VAT for housing, especially to encourage the housing sector with low GDP, down 0.67 percent and construction 2.7 percent," said Airlangga after Ratas.
