Denmark Open 2023: Putri KW Surrenders In The Hands Of Chen Yufei, Two Mixed Doubles Also Run Aground
JAKARTA Indonesian women's singles badminton player, Putri Kusuma Wardani, was eliminated in the first round of the Denmark Open 2023. Putri KW failed to extend her trip to the Super 750 BWF event after losing two straight games 9-21 and 9-21 against third seed China Chen Yufei at Jyske Bank Arena, Wednesday 18 October.
"This is my [first] meeting with Chen Yu Fei. And it turns out that the ball is in and out once, it makes me uncomfortable," said Putri after the match.
"At first I wanted to play his game but it wasn't enough to hold it. This is what I have to learn again. Hopefully in the next match, I can play more freely," he added.
The disappointing results were also obtained by mixed doubles Praveen Jordan/Melati Daeva Oktavianti and Rinov Rivaldy/Pitha Haningtyas Mentari.
Praveen/Coach also lost to representatives of China, Cheng Xing/ Chen Fang Hui, rubber games 21-11, 18-21, and 14-21, while Rinov/Pitha were beaten by third seed Feng Yan Zhe/Huang Dong Ping.
"We are losing energy to the opponent. We continue to be pressured and cannot get out of that situation so we cannot develop the best game," said Rinov.
"We've tried to overcome it but it's not good to play. There are no obstacles with the field or ball situation, the opponent does have good quality," he added.
