In Order To Quickly Find Water Sources If Burned, The Bakung Waste TPA In Lampung Is Recommended To Have Hydrant

LAMPUNG - The Fire and Rescue Service (Damkarmat) of Bandar Lampung City suggested that the Bakung Waste landfill (TPA) have a fire protection system, namely hydrants.

"So, the results of our evaluation regarding the fire at the Bakung TPA which has occurred since Friday (October 13), until now, it is recommended that relevant agencies in the future can create a fire protection system, in this case it is hydrant," said Head of the Bandarlampung City Fire and Rescue Service Anthoni Irawan in Bandarlampung, Wednesday.

So, he continued, if another fire occurs at the Bakung TPA, disaster mitigation can be carried out quickly and there is no need to look for water sources to extinguish the fire.

"If there is a hydrant at the Bakung TPA location, when a fire occurs, you don't have to go all the way to find a water source to extinguish the fire," he said.

According to him, hydrants are very necessary, because in the process of extinguishing the fire at the Bakung TPA which has been carried out until now, firefighters are constrained by the water supply that has been taken from PDAM Way Rilau.

"So far, in the process of extinguishing the fire, we have taken water from the PDAM office which is quite far from the Bakung TPA and takes time," he said.

Therefore, he continued, if the Bakung TPA has been installed with hydrants, of course, it will make it easier to handle fires when fires occur again at the TPA.

"With an area of more than 14 hectares of TPA Bakung, at least eight hydrant points were made, so that with the fire protection system, there were initial efforts when there was a fire, so it did not spread," he said.
