9,755 Flood-affected People In North Aceh
BANDA ACEH - A total of 9,755 people were affected by flooding in North Aceh Regency, Aceh Province. The floods that hit the area have occurred since Friday, October 6, 2023. The flood caused 35 gampongs (villages) to be flooded.
The Chief Executive (Kalak) of the Aceh Disaster Management Agency (BPBA), Ilyas said, the total affected victims were around 2,864 families with 9,755 people.
He said that the flood-affected victims in 3 sub-districts, namely Pirak Timu 11 gampong sub-district, amounted to 1,099 families or 4,437 people, Tanah Area District 3 gampong with 161 people, then Matangkuli 21 gampong sub-district with 1,376 families with 4,182 people, and West Tumpok 142 families with 490 people.

"Meanwhile, in Tanah Area the refugees have returned to their respective homes," he said.
Ilyas explained that flooding occurred due to high-intensity rain in the North Aceh Regency area resulting in the overflow of the Krueng Pase, Krueng Pirak, Krueng Keuruto, and Krueng Peto rivers, so that it inundated community settlements in watersheds (DAS).
"Untuk kondisi terakhir debit air sungai sudah turun dan sebagian besar gampong yang terendam sudah mulai berundur," jelasnya.
