JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) officially appointed the Head of the National Food Agency/NFA Arief Prasetyo Adi as acting (Plt) Minister of Agriculture. This appointment is in line with the resignation of Syahrul Yasin Limpo or SYL from the position.
"The replacement is still plt. The acting person is Mr. Arief Prasetyo, Head of the Food Agency," said Jokowi at the State Palace, Jakarta, Friday, October 6.
Jokowi also revealed the reason he chose Arief Prasetyo Adi as Acting Minister of Agriculture. He said this appointment was to make coordination easier.
"To be more coordinative, it makes it easier because usually we are Bulog, Food Agency, Ministry of Agriculture, this Minister of Trade always has to be one. So just consolidate it will make it easier. For me, that's all," he said.
Previously, it was reported that Syahrul Yasin Limpo chose to place his position as Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) in the midst of the alleged corruption case that ensnared him. This effort was made so as not to interfere with the achievements of the Ministry of Agriculture and cabinet performance at the end of President Jokowi's administration period.
Another factor related to the attitude taken by the NasDem politician was revealed by Syahrul Yasin Limpo who admitted that he was tired and had just returned from a working visit in Europe.
