Surya Paloh Calls Toler And Clarification About Disbanding Nasdem If Cadres Are Corruption
JAKARTA - The general chairman of the Nasdem Party, Surya Paloh, clarified his promise eight years ago that he would dissolve the party if his cadres committed corruption. This was conveyed in a press conference on the alleged corruption case that ensnared his cadre, Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL) at the Nasdem Tower Building on Thursday 5 October. He also admitted that he was wrong on that mistake and confirmed that it was not like that. "That's not what he meant. There is nothing more stupid than the chairman of the party who says that if there is a party cadre who corrupts the party is disbanded, he is stupid," said Surya Paloh. Surya said, no one can guarantee that the party cadre does not commit a disgraceful act. Moreover, if the cadre is actually a party intruder. Therefore, Surya reiterated and corrected his statement. That he would not dissolve Nasdem because there was one or two cadres who committed corruption. In the statement made by the 2015 medio, Surya admitted that he actually wanted to confirm the spirit of anti-corruption carried out by Nasdem. That Surya wanted Nasdem cadres not to commit corrupt acts. It' is actually not like that. Spirit, our enthusiasm for anti-corruption does not mean that our cadres can only do disgraceful actions. Why do we have an institution like this?' he said.
Eight years ago, Surya Paloh said that he would dissolve the Nasdem Party if any of his cadres committed corruption.
Paloh made this statement after opening the briefing of party candidates at the Mercure Hotel, Ancol, Central Jakarta, on June 3, 2015.
"It is not appropriate for the Nasdem Party to be maintained (if there are cadres who are corrupt)," said Paloh.
However, Paloh's promise has never materialized until now. On the other hand, a number of Nasdem Party cadres have been proven to be involved in the riot.
Former Secretary General of the Nasdem Party, Patrice Rio Capella, was caught in a bribery case in 2014. At that time he was suspected of brokering bribes so that the corruption case of Gatot Pudjo Nugroho, who at that time served as Governor of North Sumatra, was not investigated by the Attorney General's Office.
Then members of the Nasdem Party faction in the DPR, Ary Egahni, and her husband, Ben Ibrahim S Bahat, who served as Regent of Kapuas were arrested by the KPK. Both are suspected of extorting state civil servants (ASN) related to the placement of positions.
