Coming Directly To China, Ma'ruf Amin Ensures Halal Imported Cosmetic Raw Materials

JAKARTA - Vice President (Vice President) Ma'ruf Amin today is known to have made a working visit to the Institute for the Study of Food, Medicine and Cosmetics of the Indonesian Ulema Council (LPPOM MUI) in China.

"Our representative office in China has been initiated since 2008. The existence of our representative office in Shanghai makes it easier for halal certification of products from China which will ultimately support the government in fulfilling the availability of halal food, pharmaceutical and cosmetic raw materials so that the 2024 halal product certification program will be easier," he said in a press release today, Monday, September 18.

The Vice President explained that the government continues to support LPPOM MUI in providing halal guarantees to consumers in consuming products that come from or come from the country. As is known, until now there are still many food raw materials, medicines and cosmetics imported from China.

"Now, when the obligation to halal certification has been implemented by the Indonesian government, the existence of the LPPOM MUI representative office abroad can help the government, in this case the Halal Product Guarantee Administration Agency (BPJPH) to socialize the regulation on the guarantee of halal products," he said.

Thus, continued the Vice President, foreign entrepreneurs can understand well Indonesia's halal regulations and try to fulfill them.

"We are here to help companies that are not in Indonesia and are unable to speak Indonesian to get the latest and accurate information regarding the halal certification system in Indonesia and its technical support," he said.

It was stated that stepping on the initial stages of LPPOM MUI conducted a halal audit to China for the first time, starting in early 2000. Slowly the number of companies that registered increased.

Meanwhile, in the 2008 period, LPPOM MUI signed a collaboration with Shanghai Al Amin to assist LPPOM MUI in promoting halal certification in the Chinese market. Through this collaboration, the demand for Chinese companies to obtain halal certificates is increasing.

Then in 2011 the MUI LPPOM decided to increase cooperation with Shanghai Al Amin in the form of a representative office in Shanghai to accommodate and facilitate applications from Chinese companies.

To date, more than 1,000 companies and more than 7,000 products in China have obtained halal certificates through the Shanghai MUI LPPOM representative office. The company's coverage includes categories of processed food, beverage and food raw materials, vitamins and supplements, enzymes, cosmetics, as well as medicines and vaccines.

Then, in 2022, LPPOM MUI has widened cooperation with Shanghai SAPH Pharma Co. Ltd (SAPH Pharm) related to testing laboratories in the form of Animal DNA Testing, Porcine DNA Testing, and DNA Testing Types of other animals, such as cows, chickens, goats, fish, sheep/debonds.
