Deadly Accident Involves Buses In Ngawi, Police: 17 Victims
NGAWI - A fatal accident involving the Sugeng Rahayu and Eka buses occurred in Geneng District, Ngawi Regency, Thursday, August 31 at 5.40 WIB. Based on provisional information 3 people died.
In this incident, the two buses involved were Eka buses heading to Surabaya and Sugeng Rahayu buses on the Solo-Madiun route.
The Ngawi Police Chief, AKBP Argowiyono, confirmed that there were 17 victims in this incident, including 14 bus passengers, a pedestrian, and the second driver of the bus.
A number of injured victims are currently being treated at the Ngawi Hospital and Geneng Hospital, Ngawi. Meanwhile, there were three victims who died consisting of the driver of the two buses and a pedestrian.
"The temporary report states that the two bus drivers have died, and pedestrians, there are three victims who died," said Argo.
Argo said that his party had not been able to convey the initial suspicion of the cause of the deadly accident in Ngawi. The Ngawi Police, said Argo, is still investigating the crime scene to explore the exact cause and chronology of the initial deadly accident.
"This conclusion takes time to process the crime scene, examine witnesses and analyze how the accident happened," said Argo.
The Ngawi Police still need time to analyze the evidence at the scene, listen to witness statements, and consider factors such as human error and road conditions. Further information about the next cause will be submitted after a more in-depth investigation is carried out.
Argo said that his party had taken steps to deal with this situation. Evacuation efforts were carried out using heavy equipment to remove the driver who was caught in the vehicle.
