KKP Appointed As Freshwater Fish Village, Sebakung Village In Penajam Will Meet Fish Needs At IKN
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) has established a freshwater farming village in North Penajam Paser Regency, East Kalimantan Province, namely Sebakung Jaya Village, Babulu District to meet the needs of the National Capital Fish (IKN) Nusantara."KKP has designated Sebakung Jaya Village as a freshwater fish cultivation area with the characteristics of patin fish," explained Head of the North Penajam Paser District Fisheries Service Andi Trasodiharto in Penajam, Antara, Sunday, August 27.Almost all residents of Sebakung Jaya Village, in Babulu District, have fish ponds beside their homes, so the village is designated as a freshwater farming village.The determination of Sebakung Jaya Village as a village to cultivate freshwater fish, he said, is an effort to increase the production of freshwater fish to meet the needs of the Nusantara IKN fish.The central, provincial and district governments, he continued, will provide support and assistance to the cultivation of freshwater fish in Sebakung Jaya Village.It is hoped that with the establishment of Sebakung Jaya Village as a freshwater fish farming village, the community can develop the fisheries sector's business in North Penanam Paser Regency.Then the community is also competitive enough to improve the economy, and be able to ensure sustainable freshwater production in the area nicknamed Benuo Taka.According to him, the production of freshwater fish cultivation in North Penajam Paser Regency is still relatively low with an average production of around 14,000 tons per year.The Fisheries Service of North Penajam Paser Regency seeks to increase the production of freshwater fish so that it can reach the target of approximately 20,000 tons per year by 2023-2024.The need for freshwater fish will continue to increase significantly, when IKN Nusantara has been built, many migrants will enter the capital area of the new country of Indonesia, and the surrounding area.
The need for freshwater fish increases along with the development of IKN Nusantara and many residents outside the region enter the North Penajam Paser Regency area, said Andi Trasodiharto.
