Visiting GIIAS 2023, Ridwan Kamil Affirms The Seriousness Of The Transition Towards Electrification
JAKARTA - The 2023 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) is an event for various manufacturers to introduce their newest vehicles, including the latest electric vehicles.
GIIAS 2023 is also a manufacturer's event to introduce the latest features and technology, so that people and visitors can be well educated.
This is also what made the Governor of West Java, Ridwan Kamil, visit the annual automotive exhibition held at ICE BSD, Tangerang.
During his visit, he was accompanied by his wife and children and greeted by the General Chairperson of Gaikindo, Yohannes Nangoi, by surrounding various booths in the GIIAS 2023 event.
The man who is familiarly called Kang Emil said his admiration for electric vehicles and his party would support the direction of the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment of Indonesia (Menko Marves), Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, regarding the provision of electric-powered mobility for West Java official cars.
"So we have predicted that civil servants who also buy private cars are in time to switch to electric cars," said Kang Emil during a visit to ICE BSD, Tangerang, Friday, August 18.
However, he also expressed interest and appealed to the public to use hybrid-tech vehicles. What's more, the hybrid system also plays a role in reducing the use of fuel and increasing efficiency.
"Hybrid also has no problem because half of them use half of the fuel if certain conditions. But, the point is not to fully fuel," explained Kang Emil.
He also added that 70 percent of the pollution that occurs in the Jabodetabek area comes from emissioned vehicles, so he invites people to switch to electrification.
"We closed 70 percent of the pollution from vehicles in Jabodetabek, so it is time if there is a choice to convert to electric cars to reduce pollution," added Kang Emil.
At the 30th GIIAS, 49 vehicle brands took part, including Audi, BMW, Chery, Citroen, Daihatsu, DFSK, GWM Tank, Haval, Honda, Hyundai, KIA, Lexus, Maxus, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, MG, MINI, Mitsubishi Motors, Neta, Nissan, Ora, Porsche, Seres, Subaru, Suzuki, Toyota, Volkswagen, Volvo, and Wuling.
