JAKARTA - PT Pelabuhan Indonesia/Pelindo (Persero) in collaboration with the Indonesian Ombudsman and Transparency International Indonesia (TII) in fighting corruption at ports. "Through strengthening understanding of the prevention of corruption, it is hoped that every individual working in the port will be more sensitive and responsive to the principles of integrity," said Pelindo President Director Arif Suhartono in an official statement, in Jakarta, Saturday, August 19.
Pelindo's collaboration with the Ombudsman was marked by the signing of a memorandum of understanding, while with TII through the signing of a cooperation (PKS).
The two collaborations have basic goals to improve integrity, transparency, and healthy business practices throughout the port area. Then also demonstrate the strong commitment of the parties in strengthening the values of integrity and increasing transparency in operations throughout the port environment.
"With these two collaborations, we emphasize that Pelindo continues to improve itself. To Pelindo Group, please make sure that in carrying out the service process, integrity must be maintained, ready to be monitored, ready to be seen. If there are things that are not good in Pelindo wherever they are, they can be reported directly to me via the whistleblowing system," said Arif.
Chairman of the Indonesian Ombudsman Mokhammad Najih said that there are several things that need to be addressed in preventing corruption.
One of the challenges in an effort to prevent corruption is the obstacle to governance management, so it needs to be a focus of attention. In a sense, it is necessary to find ways to fulfill standards in the form of governance in public administration which is measurable and built in an integrated manner.
The memorandum of understanding between Pelindo and the Ombudsman is the basis for cooperation in order to improve the quality of Pelindo services.
In the cooperation agreement, there is a clause on efforts to prevent maladministration, accelerate the completion of public reports/complaints, requests or exchange of information and data, as well as the development of human resource competencies.
In addition, Pelindo and the Ombudsman also agreed to conduct socialization, education, and publication of anti-corruption programs that were carried out together.
The cooperation agreement between Pelindo and TII is focused on strengthening transparency and anti-corruption in the Pelindo environment.
The things that will be done from this collaboration include studies on anti-corruption programs in Pelindo, whistleblowing systems, special training for internal supervisory units, training to identify high-risk individuals, and evaluation of the implementation of ISO:37001 concerning Anti-Bribery Management System (SMAP).
Chairman of the Transparency International Indonesia Management Board (TII) Felia Salim stated that this form of cooperation involved the assessment process, with Pelindo receiving an evaluation of governance and efforts to prevent corruption.
One of the activities of TII, we conducted an assessment of programs related to anti-corruption, good governance, whistleblowing systems in state-owned companies. It can be said that since 2018, Pelindo has been included in the top 20, which is quite good. I am sure it will be even better now, "said Felia.
