The Prosecutor's Office Names The Former Mayor Of Kendari Sulkarnain As A Corruption Suspect For Alfamart Licensing

Investigators from the Southeast Sulawesi High Prosecutor's Office have named former Kendari Mayor Sulkarnain as a suspect in the alleged corruption case of licensing PT Midi Utama Indonesia (MUI).

Assistant for Intelligence at the Southeast Sulawesi Attorney General's Office, Ade Hermawan, said that the determination of the Mayor of Kendari for the 2017 '2022 period as a suspect was based on the facts of investigations and examinations of several witnesses in the trial of the alleged corruption case of PT MUI's licensing.

"The role of the suspect as mayor has asked for the financing of the colorful village painting activities amounting to Rp700 million to Arif Lutfian Nursandi as Corcom Manager of PT MUI," said Ade as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, August 14.

He revealed that the money requested by Sulkarnain was in exchange for the granting of permits for the establishment of Alfamart supermarkets or supermarkets in Kendari City.

However, in fact, the colorful painting of the village has been financed by the Kendari City Government Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD) in 2021.

"In addition, Sulkarnain has asked for a share of five percent of each supermarket establishment in Kendari City, which is six stores that have been operating in Kendari City through its company CV Garuda Cipta Perkasa," explained Ade Hermawan.

Investigators have scheduled an examination of Sulkarnain as a suspect on Friday (18/8).

In addition to the former Mayor of Kendari Sulkarnain, the Southeast Sulawesi Prosecutor's Office also revealed several other roles of suspects in the same case, namely SM as the staff of the Kendari Mayor who received and managed funds for the construction of colorful villages from PT MUI.

Meanwhile, the RT as the Acting Head of the Kendari City Housing, Settlement and Land Office is the person who made and signed the colorful village budget plan whose financing was requested from PT MUI.

Previously, the Southeast Sulawesi Prosecutor's Office would examine the former Mayor of Kendari Sulkarnain as a witness in a case of alleged corruption in the request and receipt of a sum of money or bribes related to the licensing of Alfamidi/Alfamart outlets that had ensnared the Kendari City Regional Secretary with the initials RT.

Assistant for Special Crimes at the Southeast Sulawesi Prosecutor's Office, Setiawan Kholiq, when releasing the case recently said that his party was continuing to investigate the alleged corruption case of licensing that had ensnared the Kendari Regional Secretary RT and the Mayor of SM as suspects.

"We are developing, specifically for SK (former Mayor of Kendari), we actually called today, but did not attend," he said.
