LDII Bans Its Citizens From Golput In The 2024 General Election
SEMARANG - The Regional Leadership Council (DPW) of the Indonesian Islamic Da'wah Institute (LDII) Central Java has prohibited LDII residents from becoming white (golput) at the 2024 General Election democracy party (Pemilu).
"Indeed, we prohibit LDII residents from becoming goalkeepers. So, they must choose. Whose choice is it? Invited," said Central Java LDII DPW Chairman Prof. Singh Tri Sulistiyono in Semarang as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, July 29.
This was conveyed when the Central Java LDII DPW media had the theme "Increase in Synergy between LDII and Mass Media" in Building Tolerance and Mutual Respect in welcoming the Golden Indonesia Era.
Singgih explained that LDII applies the principle of active neutralism in politics so as to free its citizens to make their own choices as good citizens.
Singgih admits that LDII has a historical bond with Golkar in the past. However, since the Reformation era, he has established himself as a da'wah institution that is not affiliated with any political party.
According to him, the closeness to Golkar at that time was because LDII did not want to take the risk against the New Order government which was so strong at that time.
"After the reform, we have different standards to become a da'wah institution that protects all elements of society so as not to be the director of any political party," he said.
Singgih invites LDII residents to exercise their voting rights at democratic parties freely and rationally, including in having candidates for representatives of the people and presidential candidates.

"Regarding political choices, we are welcome. We are trying to become a modern da'wah organization based on rationality even though it requires a process," said the Professor of Diponegoro University, Semarang.
Along with that, LDII also freed its citizens to advance in the arena of various political arenas, such as being representatives of the people and regional heads, both mayors, regents, and governors.
Currently, he said, LDII residents have spread across various political parties, such as the Golkar Party, PDI Perjuangan, Gerindra, and also some have held positions as regional heads.
"There are LDII residents who are Golkar Party candidates in Klaten, in Wonogiri, there are also PDI Perjuangan in Wonogiri, in Klaten there are Gerindra. It can be said that they are everywhere, but not anywhere," concluded Singgih.
