Menpora: The Success Of IBL 2023 Has A Positive Impact On The Basketball Ecosystem In Indonesia
BANDUNG - Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Dito Ariotedjo believes that the successful implementation of the 2023 Indonesian Basketball League (IBL) will have a positive impact on the basketball ecosystem in Indonesia.
On Saturday 22 July, the IBL 2023 season officially ended with Prawira Harum Bandung coming out as champions. Prawira ended his 25-year title fast with a 63-58 victory over Pelita Jaya in the second final match, having previously won 74-65 in the first match.
"In terms of implementation, I think IBL 2023 is very good, especially after going through the COVID-19 pandemic. The home-away system in IBL has proven to be able to increase enthusiasm when the team becomes the host," said Menpora Dito as quoted from a written statement on the official website of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
Menpora Dito also watched the second IBL final match which was held at the GOR C-TRA Arena, Bandung, on Saturday night. He even handed over the IBL champion trophy to the Prawira team, together with the Governor of West Java, Ridwan Kamil.

On that occasion, Menpora Dito congratulated the Prawira Harum team, which was the pride of the people of Bandung.
"Congratulations to Prawira Harum for his success in winning. I saw the match was very tight and extraordinary," said Menpora Dito.
Menpora Dito has been actively involved in the world of basketball, and he is the Steering Committee of PP Perbasi. Prior to becoming Menpora, Dito had also served as commissioner of RANS PIK Basketball, one of the IBL participating teams.
IBL has held competitions for eight seasons, since the format of this basketball competition was introduced in 2016. For the Prawira team, the success of winning this season is their first title in the IBL event. Meanwhile, for the Pelita Jaya team, this is the third year in a row they have to settle for only being finalists.
