Meeting Minister Basuki, K-Water Wants To Be An Air Infrastructure Project Partner In Indonesia
BALI - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono together with the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Republic of Korea Gandi Sulistiyanto, met with South Korean K-Water CEO Yun Seog Dae, on Wednesday, July 5.
The bilateral meeting discussed the question of K-Water, which wants to become a partner of various water infrastructure projects in Indonesia, as well as collaboration towards the future of sustainable water management infrastructure in Indonesia, including in the development of IKN Nusantara.
Indonesia and South Korea are committed to strengthening cooperation through exchange of knowledge and technology, increasing the capacity of human resources, and developing collaborative projects in the field of water management infrastructure development.
The two countries will also strive to realize extraordinary projects at IKN Nusantara.
Especially in March 2023, the Minister of Agrarian Affairs, Infrastructure, and Transportation of the Republic of Korea Won Hee Ryeong along with 57 representatives of South Korean companies and accompanied by Ambassador Gandi Sulistiyanto visited IKN Nusantara to see firsthand the Sepaku Semoi dam construction project and motivate South Korean workers involved in projects at IKN Nusantara.
"There has been a lot of cooperation that has been carried out with K-Water, including infrastructure development projects and capacity development training. Indonesia also has many projects to be developed at IKN Nusantara, so we invite the CEO of K-Water to directly visit infrastructure development projects at IKN Nusantara," Minister Basuki said in a written statement, Thursday, July 6.
Basuki hopes that this bilateral meeting will be a significant step in strengthening cooperation between Indonesia and South Korea, especially in the field of developing water management infrastructure.
He also invited K-Water to participate in the implementation of the 10th World Water Forum in Bali in 2024 which aims to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experience in the field of water management globally.
"With the presence of these two countries, especially with the presence of Ambassador Gandi Sulistiyanto, it will further increase cooperation with South Korea and attract investment that is beneficial for both countries," said Basuki.

Meanwhile, K-Water CEO Yun Seog Dae said, a number of K-Water cooperation with Indonesia, namely in the implementation of the Karian Dam in West Java, which is one of the public private partnership (PPP) projects.
In addition, the development of the Sepaku Semoi water treatment plant at IKN Nusantara uses zero carbon technology, as an effort to support the Platform Green Transition Initiatives.
"K-Water wants to become a business partner in various water infrastructure development cooperation projects in Indonesia. K-Water also hopes to continue good relations with Indonesia and the Ministry of PUPR, as well as support the development of waterworks in Indonesia," he added.
