DKI Provincial Government Targets Highway Delegation Route ASEAN Summit To Be Smooth In August
Acting DKI Jakarta Highways Agency Heru Suwondo targets the repair of the highway which is the route for the ASEAN 2023 Summit delegation to be completed in August.
Jakarta is one of the hosts of the ASEAN 2023 Summit. There will be a meeting of Southeast Asian heads of state at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) in September.
Jakarta also hosted a meeting of city leaders throughout ASEAN at the Mayors and Governors Meeting of the ASEAN Capital 2023 as a series of ASEAN Summits.
"We are currently repairing protocol roads, especially this ahead of the ASEAN Summit. The number is in the center and south, but there are some in the east. The route is for ASEAN Summit participants, really. We hope that in August everything will be finished, everything is tidy," said Heru at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Monday, July 3.
Currently, the progress of the smoothing of the protocol road has reached 50 percent. Several roads that have been completed have been repaired, namely Jalan MT Haryono, Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, Jalan MH Thamrin, to the Medan Merdeka area.
Heru also ensured that a number of roads that had been repaired by vendors would not be damaged again before the ASEAN Summit.
"Of course this work includes maintenance. Vendors will not want to work as long as they are damaged, it will be his responsibility. We want the roads to be neat, good all. But in terms of quality it is also good and the maintenance period is quite long," explained Heru.

During the COVID-19 pandemic that hit in recent years, the DKI Provincial Government only covered potholes. As a result, several road points that were patched were damaged again.
Permanent repairs to this protocol road are targeted to be completed before the ASEAN Summit is held in September. Meanwhile, other roads are under mapping.
Later, road work will be carried out permanently using the hotmix method whose asphalting requires heating. In the hotmix method, improvements are carried out by squeezing 11 centimeters of hot asphalt by repairing the concrete of flooded areas.
There are 21,400 road points in Jakarta that have been damaged in the last three months, spread across 5 administrative cities in the capital. Tens of thousands of damaged and potholed roads are still being repaired by patch.
