So That It Doesn't Prolong, Get To Know 3 As Long As It's Overthinking
YOGYAKARTA Think too much or be known as overthinking, without realizing it can interfere with life stability. This is because you can spend hours busy in your head without being able to do anything. You can overcome it, most fundamentally, identify where the trigger came from first, then you can set a strategy to prevent overthinking. Here, psychotherapist and writer Erin Leonard, Ph.D. share his identification of the origin of the overthinking.
If you pay close attention to how actions and words have an impact on those closest to you, it might make you often analyze and criticize yourself. This is not a bad thing, but if you misplace it, it can make you waste a long time thinking about it too much.
Especially when faced with people who are selfish or have no emotional intelligence like you. In this condition, you are faced with a reality that clashes with yourself. So Leonard's advice, try to take time to evaluate emotional security and set healthy boundaries.
Changes make a person think less about yourself. Be it small aspects to identity. For example, you get a new position or change jobs. This phase may be short, but it makes you think more than ever before. Like how to adapt to a new situation so that it can be accepted by your team.
While you may be filled with doubt and analyze everything you do, it may only be temporary. Because it will stabilize again if it is actively consolidated and finds a way to fill the void after leaving the previous phase.
Often at night, when there are fewer disturbances, you may be filled with strange worries. These thoughts sometimes feel dark, for example suddenly worried about having a car accident during tomorrow's assignment, or imagining other things that are dark and troubling.
According to Leonard, this thought may come from past trauma. Although it may have processed this trauma and most of it recovers, the brain is still working to predict things that are causing it to collapse. When experiencing this, Leonard suggests turning the route of mind immediately. Transfer to fun things, such as successfully reshuffling the kitchen, or successfully getting the things you want. It's okay to get rid of dark thoughts with fun and fun," Leonard said as quoted by Psychology Today, Sunday, July 2.
Overthinking needs to be recognized from its origins, this can help you get to know yourself better.
