MUI Asks Legal Apparatus To Act On Panji Gumilang Leader Of Al-Zaytun Islamic Boarding School
JAKARTA - Deputy Secretary General of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI)Ikhsan Abdullah gave recommendations related to the pros and cons of activities at the Al-Zaytun Islamic Boarding School (Ponpes), Indramayu, West Java.
This was conveyed by Ikhsan after a closed meeting with the Ministry of Religion, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Attorney General's Office, the National Police Headquarters, and the State Intelligence Agency in the Sembrodo Room.
"The recommendation is the first, because this is related to a criminal act committed by Panji Gumilang as a personal, legal apparatus to immediately take legal action," said Ikhsan as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, June 21.
He asked law enforcement officials (APH) to immediately take legal action against the caregiver of the Al-Zaytun Islamic Boarding School, Panji Gumilang, who received public attention. This made a number of parties think that Al Zaytun was heretical and deviant, and urged the pesantren to be disbanded immediately.
Not only that, Ikhsan also hopes that Al-Zaytun Islamic Boarding School can be saved for guidance from deviant things. The reason is, Al-Zaytun Islamic Boarding School is considered to have indicated to have committed irregularities.
"This means that it does not deviate from its pesantres, but is the administrators of the foundation, especially Panji Gumilang," he explained.
Previously, Vice President Ma'ruf Amin said the government would take steps related to the pros and cons of activities at the Al-Zaytun Islamic Boarding School.
"I think later when there are views from NU West Java, from Persis (Islamic Association), then from MUI, I will ask to coordinate at the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs level to discuss what steps we (the government) should take," said Vice President Ma'ruf Amin in Jakarta, Tuesday (20/6).
After a study of the activities at the Al Zaytun Islamic Boarding School, there were irregularities, said the Vice President, there would be a coordination meeting between the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Polhukam) and the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag).
"I ask to be followed up," said Vice President Ma'ruf Amin.
