2 Days Lost, Victim Drowning In Bantul's Kalijoho River Found Dead
The Joint Search and Rescue Team (SAR) found the victim drowned in the Progo River in Kalijoho, Argosari Village, Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region on Sunday afternoon, in a state of death.
"The combined SAR team in the search for a drowning in the Progo River paid off, the victim on behalf of Devangga Noor Raihan was found," said Head of the Yogyakarta National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) Kamal Riswandi, quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, June 6.
He explained that the victim, who was a resident of RT02, Kalijoho Kidul Hamlet, Argosari Village, was found on Tuesday, at around 00.10 WIB floating on the riverbank with a distance of approximately 30 meters from the location where the victim drowned.
"Then the Joint SAR Team and residents immediately evacuated the victims to the riverbank," he said.
He explained that the victim was evacuated by the Joint SAR Team and immediately taken to the funeral home to be handed over to the family for burial.
"With the discovery of this victim, the SAR operation was immediately closed, and the elements involved in the search were returned to their respective units," he said.
In a search operation on the second day or Monday (5/6), the team has carried out searches with aquaeye, diving, body rafting to lower ship drones that can search for objects inside the river.
However, he said, until 17.00 WIB at that time the victim had not been found and the search was temporarily suspended, to resume on the third day or Tuesday.
"The plan to search for the third day will be expanded to a radius of one kilometer to the south of the scene. But thank God last night, at 00.10 WIB the victim was found," he said.
Spokesperson for the Yogyakarta Basarnas Pipit Eriyanto said the river accident occurred on Sunday (4/6), at 17.00 WIB, when the victim and his friends were bathing in the Progo River, after previously playing football around.
"Deva (victim, ed.) and two other friends (Willing and Ikhsan, ed.) slipped and then another friend tried to help. However, Deva, who was seen waving, could not be helped and drowned in the Progo River," he said.
