Sold Early June In France, Smart #1 Expands Market In Europe
JAKARTA - A joint venture from Mercedes-Benz with Geely, Smart Automobile, officially presents Smart #1 for the French market earlier this June. This launch also marks the company's strategy to accelerate its global business operations by launching Smart #1 in various parts of Europe.
Quoted from Carnewschina, Saturday, June 3, Smart Automobile plans to launch the compact SUV in the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland and Italy. Outside of the European market, Smart wants to take the model to neighboring country, Malaysia towards the end of 2023
However, buyers in France are asked to be patient about Smart #1 shipments that can wait up to two months. Previously, Smart #1 had been launched at its own home, Germany in March.
Smart has been working to increase production in May this year by sending 2,624 units in China. Overall, they have sold 21,909 Smart #1 units since it was first delivered in September 2022.
Smart #1 is a compact five-seater SUV designed by Mercedes and manufactured at the Geely factory based on the SEA Geely platform. The competitor from Toyota Raize is 4270 mm long, 1822 mm wide, 1636 mm high, and 2750 mm wheelbase.
Equipped with a single electric motor and rear wheel drive, Smart #1 is capable of generating 272 dk and 343 Nm of power. This can make the SUV go up to a top speed of 180 km/hour.
The performance of electric motors is also accompanied by an NMC ternary 66 kWh battery which can carry Smart #1 driving as far as 420 km to 440 km in a fully charged battery condition.
Smart #1 is also equipped with a new smart feature with smart companion avatars with AI voice control within the 3D user interface. And the car ecosystem of both smart apps and cloud data are all connected to personal smart IDs protected by the highest cybersecurity encryption standards.
In China, Smart #1 is priced at 179,000 to 279,000 yuan or equivalent to IDR 378.7 million to IDR 590.3 million.
