Three suspected perpetrators of misuse of 3 kilograms (Kg) subsidized LPG gas cylinders (Kg) in Sindangbarang Village, East Bogor District were arrested by the police. The distribution of the sale of the suspects in Jakarta and Bekasi.
The Head of Bogor City Police, Kombes Pol Bismo Teguh Prakoso explained, the perpetrators injected subsidized LPG gas into 12 kg and 50 kg gas cylinders, then resold it at a higher price.
They collected 3 kg LPG gas from a man named Christian in Jakarta 8 times and then sent to Bogor. After that they moved it to a larger gas cylinder. The injection process took place in Sindangbarang," Bismo said in his statement, Monday, May 29.
The gas cylinders from the injection were then marketed to a number of gas agents in Bekasi and Jakarta. 12 kg gas cylinders are sold for IDR 130 thousand while 50 kg gas cylinders sell for IDR 800 thousand.
In fact, a 3 kg gas cylinder was purchased at a price of Rp. 18 thousand. This makes the three of them gain a lot from the fraud committed.
Bismo said the action caused price disparities that were detrimental to the small community and the government. This also makes the distribution of subsidized gas not right on target.
The police managed to confiscate 2 trucks, 3 pickup cars filled with gas measuring 3 kg, 12 kg, and 50 kg.
A total of 3 kg of gas there are 780 tubes, 288 of which contain the rest empty because they have been moved. We also confiscated 167 tubes of gas and 35 tubes of 50 kg of gas, "explained Bismo.
The three suspected perpetrators included Agus Salim (32) acting as investors, Syah Bilal Sitoris (28) and Kusdianto (40) who acted as gas drivers and injecters. Meanwhile, Christian, a gas cylinder supplier, is still being pursued. The three perpetrators face up to 6 years in prison or a fine of Rp. 60 billion.
"To prevent the same incident from happening again, we will continue to carry out operations. We urge the public if they see any suspicion, please report it to the police. It is their characteristics of loading and unloading carelessly and the car used to transport gas does not have Pertamina's identity," Bismo said.
