West Sumatra Police Reveal Alleged Illegal Logging In Solok
The West Sumatra Regional Police have uncovered allegations of illegal logging on Jalan Raya Jorong Parik, Nagari Bukit Tandang, Bukit Sundi District, Solok Regency.
The Head of Public Relations of the West Sumatra Police, Kombes Dwi Sulistyawan, said officers arrested a perpetrator with the initials A (46) years old who brought wood from illegal logging using a car driven by him.
The perpetrator was stopped by officers and was unable to show a permit for the wood brought to be brought by officers to the West Sumatra Police. Meanwhile, the evidence was secured to the Solok Police.
"The perpetrator has now been detained by investigators from Sub-Directorate IV of the West Sumatra Police Ditreskrimsus, starting from May 26, 2023 to June 14, 2023," Dwi said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, May 29.
Disclosure began with information received by the Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimsus) of the West Sumatra Police regarding the transportation of forest products in the form of wood that was not equipped with documents.
"Based on this information, the West Sumatra Police Ditreskrimsus conducted an investigation to the location on Saturday (20/5)," he said.
The police immediately moved and found a yellow Mitsubishi Canter Super ADX truck with police number BA 9821 HU loaded with wood driven by the perpetrator with the initials A (46).

"The result was that the officers caught hands while carrying 267 logs," he said.
The perpetrator is suspected of Article 83 paragraph (1) letter b of Law Number 18 of 2013 concerning Prevention and Eradication of Forest Destruction as amended and added in Article 37 number 13 paragraph (1) letter b of Law Number 6 of 2023 concerning Stipulation of Government Regulation in Lieu of Law Number 2 of 2022 concerning Job Creation into Law Juncto Article 55 Paragraph (1) 1st of the Criminal Code.
"The minimum imprisonment is one year and a maximum of five years, as well as a fine of at least Rp. 500 million and a maximum of Rp. 2 billion," he said.
