JAKARTA - The film titled Jin Khodam is ready to hit theaters on May 23. Since the beginning, the duration of this film has offered a beautiful view in Abah Jajang's house which has gone viral with a view of the waterfall in Cianjur. It turns out that the horror film produced by Mercusuar Films and 786 Production was shot before the location went viral. Even Abahng Jajang's house became the main house for Bagas, played by Boy Hamzah.
"We filmed before it went viral, his intention was to pamper the audience with good views. Not only the horror," said Producer Dedi Mercy at a media conference at Epicentrum, South Jakarta, Monday, May 22.
Pateoza's theme, director Jin Khodam added, the view makes this religious horror film complete. "It doesn't highlight the horror but the atmosphere is horror. It's compact, there's drama, Thiller. This film seems slow but binding. It's heavier than the horror scenes that are continuous," he explained.
Written by Ahmad Madani and Imam Salimy, Jin Khodam tells the story of Bagas, a man who returns to his hometown after some time studying at the pesantren. Together with two of his friends, Ayu and Hadi, Bagas are determined to be able to restore the social norms in his village.
However, Bagas and his friends' efforts received opposition from the richest person in the village, namely Wirya. Then, Wirya and her group decided to kill the bagas and dispose of the bagas corpse in the river. Wirya and her subordinates were shocked because they suddenly heard the sound of Asyghil's prayer which was usually sung by Bagas. They were also scared when they saw Bagas who turned out to be still alive. Since then, terror has occurred.
According to Boy Hamzah, the film Jin Khodam not only provides special surprises such as horror films in general, but also displays the reality side that occurs in everyday life. From there, the film Jin Khodam was recognized by Boy not only about horror, but also a picture of the drama of everyday life.
"The characters in this film are present in everyday life. The challenges are simple but deep, this is what we want to convey," he said.
When playing Bagas, Boy faces the challenge of having to memorize the preamble and some prayers that must be said properly and correctly. This condition requires Boy to always focus and be calm so that he is able to become the character Bagas, who Boy and the production team hope for.
