Continue To Lose, All Gunung Agung Book Shops Will Permanently Close At The End Of 2023

JAKARTA - PT Gunung Agung. The dozens of companies that oversee the Gunung Agung Bookstore announced that they will permanently close all of its remaining shops or outlets at the end of this year.

Based on an official statement received by VOI, the management of the Gunung Agung Bookstore revealed the reason. The closure of all outlets was carried out because the company could not survive the loss of business due to the increasing problem of operating costs.

The Board of Directors of PT Gunung Agung Tiga Belas revealed that since the era of the COVID-19 pandemic, in 2020, they have indeed taken efficiency steps by closing several shops or outlets spread across several cities such as Surabaya, Semarang, Gresik, Magelang, Bogor, Bekasi and Jakarta.

However, the board of directors confirmed that the closure of this store or outlet was not carried out due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 alone. But also because management has carried out business efficiency and effectiveness since 2013.

Efficiency is carried out to strive to maintain business continuity and overcome business losses due to problems with large operational costs and not comparable to the achievement of business sales every year.

"Which is getting tougher with the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020," the board of directors wrote in an official statement, quoted Monday, May 22.

Management has also decided to close shops or outlets in 2020. However, due to conditions not improving, by the end of this year PT Gunung Agung Tiga Belas will permanently close all remaining shops.

"At the end of 2023, we plan to close our remaining stores or outlets. We have to take this decision because we cannot survive the additional operating losses per month which are getting bigger," he said.
