Cirebon Regent Jamu 32 Thudong Thuguns In Pendopo
CIREBON - The Regent of Cirebon, West Java Imron hosted 32 banthes or monks who were carrying out "thudong" from Thailand to Borobudur Temple to the Regent's Hall in order to honor them, especially since the speech from the residents was very enthusiastic.
"From the schedule, there are no activities in the pavilion, but we as the host immediately coordinate with related parties to invite and host the tires," said Imron as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, May 20.
According to him, he invited the 32 tires that were carrying out thidong or walking from Thailand to Borobudur Temple, Central Java, to honor them, considering that Cirebon was one of the areas visited by the monks.
The event at the Cirebon Pendopo was not included in the monk's travel agenda, but this is a way of respect, especially since the residents of Cirebon were very enthusiastic when the monks arrived.
According to Imron, the arrival of the tires to Cirebon also proves that tolerance in Indonesia is still well maintained.
"This is evidenced by the enthusiasm of the people who welcomed the arrival of the monks. I was moved to see it," said Imron.
According to him, so far, there have been many narratives on social media, which make religion the cause of breaking the unity. However, the arrival of these monks proved the opposite.
According to him, during the journey of the monks in Cirebon Regency, it was not only among the Buddhists, but also many Muslim communities in Cirebon, who helped the monks.
This, he said, also proves that the tolerance of the people in Cirebon Regency is very high. He hopes that this condition can always be maintained properly.
"Many Muslims welcome it. Some give them drinks and food too. Hopefully, this high tolerance can be maintained properly," said Imron.
