Residents And TNI-Polri Officers Repair Damaged Roads In Trenggalek
JAKARTA - Residents and fish associations on the coast of Prigi Bay, Trenggalek Regency, East Java, Sunday worked together to repair damaged roads on the Watulimo-Munjungan route. Service work has been carried out since morning, involving dozens of residents, traders' communities as well as TNI and Polri officers.
"Yes, we worked together by patching the damaged potholes around Tumpak Ampo, Sawah Ngondo and Pal Daplang on Jalan Raya Prigi 'Munjungan. This is what is called the people of urban areas, some bring cement, some bring sand material and others. If they can't help the energy, residents usually donate by bringing various foods," said Watulimo Police Chief, AKP Zainudin in Trenggalek, Sunday, May 14.
The road repair on the section is carried out because the route is the closest access between sub-districts. The route is vital because it is the main and closest access to transport or distribute produce from the earth and sea.
"Approximately 10 kilometers long, we combined together at points with holes and other minor damage. Because it is very disturbing and quite dangerous. Moreover, steep road terrain with sharp climbs and derivatives is dangerous, especially for vehicles carrying loads," he added.
The road repair carried out with the TNI-Polri is a non-governmental organization, including the association of fish traders to the association of drivers of light and heavy cargo vehicles. At least 65 people were involved in the patching activity by casting cement at the points of the damage.
"Each point that is patched is marked so that it is not run over by vehicles until later it is completely dry. Especially for those who are badly damaged and wide, we make a new road next to them. So, motorists can still pass and do not disturb the wheels of the community's economy," he said.
The movement was given the term "Geneman". The acronym from the combination said the movement was patching the road. In the coastal area, such service is not the first time this has been done, but it has been several times. The improvement is temporary while waiting for the process of thorough improvement by the local government which will be carried out in stages.
According to the information received, repairs will be carried out in the near future on the Watulimo area road towards Tulungagung.
"Information from the village head this year, but I don't know when. So a patch will be carried out temporarily. This is a form of cohesiveness between the ranks of the Police, the TNI and the community. We hope that with this movement the road conditions can be safer and more comfortable to pass while reducing the potential for accidents," he said.
Trenggalek Regent Mochamad Nur Arifin and various opportunities stated that his party had budgeted for infrastructure repair costs of IDR 73 billion in the 2024 APBD.
Currently, the repair process is being carried out in stages. To support that, around Rp. 15 billion is allocated for road repairs.
In detail, Rp5 billion is allocated to the Pule District which has a severe level of damage.
