Questioning Ransomware Attacks In The Banking Sector, Kaspersky Gives This Advice

JAKARTA - Some time ago, BSI customers complained about the problems that occurred in the m-banking BSI Mobile that could not be used to make transactions or even just look at the number of their accounts.

Cybersecurity expert, Pratama Persadha who is also the Chairman of the Communication & Information System Security Research Center (CISSReC) revealed that the error that occurred in the m-banking BSI had indications caused by the ransomware attack.

According to Kaspersky, over the past five years, ransomware has evolved from a threat to individual computers to become a serious danger to the company's network (corporation).

Especially in the banking sector and financial service institutions, Kaspersky sees that it is still and will continue to be the main target of cybercriminals in this regard.

"This is an undeniable fact considering that this sector has a lot of important information about customers and the amount of money stored," Kaspersky told VOI when asked for comment on ransomware in the banking sector.

New statistics from Kaspersky even revealed that there were a total of 304,904 ransomware attacks targeting businesses in Southeast Asia have been blocked by Kaspersky's B2B solution in 2022. Indonesia recorded the highest number of incidents thwarted by the Kaspersky B2B (131,779) solution, followed by Thailand (82,438), and Vietnam (57,389).
