Guardiola Tanjung Haaland After Holding The English Premier League Record

JAKARTA Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola gave Erling Haaland a record Premier League goal in a season of competitions.

The Norwegian forward officially became the top scorer in a season of the Premier League competition after scoring one goal in City's 3-0 win over West Ham United at Etihad on Thursday, May 4 in the morning.

"Everyone is happy to have it with us. This record will be broken sooner or later, maybe by him in the future, because he will score a lot of goals," Guardiola said.

An additional one goal means Haaland has scored a total of 35 goals in the Premier League this season. That number automatically surpassed the 34 goals previously held by the two legendary names Andy Cole and Alan Shearer.

Haaland's goal party for City actually started against West Ham last August. At that time, former Borussia Dortmund striker scored two winning goals for The Citizen.

"He understands what we want to do. The players understand his movement. With the first two goals against West Ham, we immediately saw that he was a player who when you gave him the ball he would score in all situations," Guardiola said.

An additional goal against West Ham made Haaland have 51 goals in all competitions. He only needed 11 goals to pass Cristiano Ronaldo's 61 goals in a season.

Ronaldo made that record while he was still in Real Madrid in the 2014/2015 season. Ronaldo's chances of passing Ronaldo's record are also large because City currently still survives in three competitions.
