MAKI Considers OTT Evidence Of The Failure Of The KPK To Prevent Corruption
JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) took three hand arrest operations (OTT) before Eid al-Fitr was considered not an achievement. This institution is considered by the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) to have failed to take precautions as often conveyed by KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri.
"The prevention failed, so finally OTT," MAKI Coordinator Boyamin Saiman told reporters, Tuesday, April 25.
He said arresting fraudulent officials could actually be done easily. Moreover, wiretapping can be done at any time.
In fact, Boyamin said, OTT can actually be likened to hunting in zoos. "In districts, cities, provinces, ministries, many projects can be targeted for OTT," he said.
"Especially before the election or Eid, there must be a lot of excuses for the New Year's holiday ahead of the holidays, elections, a lot of money milling around, so it's easy to do OTT," Boyamin continued.
However, prevention efforts can be successful if the anti-corruption commission makes an accountable and anti-corruption governance formula for various government institutions. In this way, it is hoped that the naughty game of officials can be closed before it happens.
"Managed data, be it a transparent budgeting process, prevent leaks, such as open tenders. So that the tender process is not only one or two. The key is good governance, transparent, and accountable," said Boyamin.
As previously reported, the KPK is aggressively carrying out silent operations during the fasting month. There are three activities carried out starting from the OTT of the Regent of Meranti M. Adil; OTT at the Directorate General of Public Relations of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub); to the OTT of the Mayor of Bandung, Yana Mulyana, regarding the alleged bribery in the procurement of CCTV and the Bandung Smart City internet network.
