West Sumatra Implements Restrictions On Goods Transport, Prevent Congestion During Homecoming And Return Flows For Eid 2023
SUMBAR - The Provincial Government (Pemrov) of West Sumatra (West Sumatra) issued a policy of regulating the operation of goods transport vehicles during the homecoming and return flow of Lebaran 2023.
Head of the West Sumatra Transportation Agency, Dedi Diantolani, said the policy was taken to maintain smooth traffic flow during the homecoming flow and backflow of Lebaran 2023.
"This is to prevent severe congestion during homecoming and backflow so that people, migrants and tourists who come to West Sumatra can be more comfortable," he said in Padang, West Sumatra, Saturday, April 15, as reported by Antara.
Based on the Announcement Letter Number 550/317/DISHUB/SB-IV/2023 concerning Traffic Regulations During Eid Al-Fitr Transportation Flows 2023/1444 Hijri, the operation of goods transportation is limited starting Monday, April 17.
"This operational arrangement is divided into three periods, namely homecoming, backflow I and backflow II," he said.
On the flow of homecoming, the operation of goods transportation is limited from Monday 17 April at 16.00 WIB to Friday 21 April at 00.00 WIB.
Transport of goods can resume on Saturday 22 April from 00.01 to Sunday 23 April at 24.00 WIB.
"Then entering the return flow period I, the operation of goods transportation is again limited from Monday (April 24) at 00.00 WIB to Wednesday (April 26) at 08.00 WIB," he said.
Transport of goods was again allowed to operate on Wednesday (April 26) from 08.01 WIB to Friday (April 28) at 24.00 WIB.
"Saturday (April 29) at 00.00 p.m. in the second backflow period. Operational freight transport is again limited to Tuesday (May 2) at 08.00 WIB," he said.
Dedi said the local government deliberately provided a time lag for the operation of goods transportation so that there would be no shortages that could trigger an increase in market prices.
He said the policy does not apply to transporting fuel oil and gas fuel, sending money, transporting livestock, fertilizers, transporting motorbikes, and basic necessities.
He hopes that goods transport entrepreneurs can understand and follow the policies taken so that there will be no friction in the field.
