Google Chat Launches Interface With Fresher New Design
JAKARTA - Following last year's announcement, Google finally introduced a new look for Google Chat, and a recently refreshed interface for Google Drive, Google Documents, Google Spreadsheets, and Google Slides.
In its announcement, based on Google 3 Material Design, the search giant said that this change includes font updates, colors, layouts, panel sizes, and much more.
"In particular, you'll see changes to the top app bar, left navigation, main message display, writing preparation, new topic buttons, and thread panel in live message and space," Google said in its blog, which was discovered by The Verge.
Like what Google is sharing, you'll see some minor changes to the overall interface, including the shape of the search tab which was originally square in shape but is now round.
In addition, there are also some minor changes to the main message display, writing preparation, new topic buttons, and thread panels in live and spatial messages.
"We hope that this modernized product experience enhances collaboration and allows you to complete tasks more easily in your workflow," Google said.
This redesigned view for Google Chat on the web is rolling out now and will be fully available in the coming weeks. View is also available to all Google Workspace subscribers, as well as old G Suite Basic and Business subscribers, as well as users with personal Google Accounts.
Earlier this week, Google also announced a new Chat feature that allows Space Managers to create dedicated announcement channels, as you can do on Slack.
