Polestar 4 Ready To Compete With Tesla Model Y And Porsche Macan EV

JAKARTA - Swedish car brand Polestar will introduce a third EV car under the name Polestar 4 at the Shanghai Auto Show 2023 on April 18.

Reporting from InsideEV, Tuesday, April 11, it is estimated that the car will be slightly smaller than the previous electric car, Polestar 3. Polestar 4 will carry a coupe-SUV with more modern technology.

Although the manufacturer did not disclose the specifications of this car, Polestar 4 is expected to be able to travel from 0 to 100 km/hour in about 4 seconds.

Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath said Polestar 4 was not just a modified version of its first SUV. Instead, it is the latest generation of coupe-SUV.

"Polestar 4 is not just a modified version of our first SUV. Instead, we reconsidered the entire design to create a new generation SUV-Coupe," said Thomas.

The company owned by Volvo and Geely has also released a teaser as part of an announcement regarding Polestar 4. Polestar 4 can be seen still covered in white cloaks all over its body, but this also provides an overview of what this car was like when it was introduced.

Despite being covered with a robe, it is estimated that the polestar 4 front light is similar to Polestar 3 with a more aerodynamic engine hood.

Polestar has big ambitions for its SUV lineup, by launching production of more than 160,000 SUVs per year by 2025, most of which are marketed in the United States.

Especially for Polestar 4, the company hopes to sell 43,000 units worldwide by 2024, followed by 79,000 units by 2025.

This sporty electric SUV coupe is expected to be a rival to the upcoming Porsche Tiger EV. But if the price fits, Polestar 4 will also compete with Tesla Model Y, and will likely become the best-selling brand by the middle of the decade.
