Fire Armed Drug Dealer Arrested By East Oku Police

MARTAPORE - Police Resort (Polres) Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU) Timur, South Sumatra, arrested a drug dealer as well as a homemade firearm owner who was troubling the community in this area.

"The suspect is ER (34), a resident of Gumawang Village, Belitang I District, East OKU Regency," said Head of the Narcotics Unit of the East OKU Police AKP Ujang Abdul Azis in Martapura, Saturday.

He said the suspect was arrested at his home in Gumawang Village without a fight on Thursday (6/4) at around 08.15 WIB.

The disclosure of cases of narcotics abuse and possession of homemade firearms is due to public information that is restless with drug trafficking activities around the perpetrators' residences.

He said the arrest of the suspect was strengthened based on the Police Report Number LP-A/18/IV/2023/SPKT.SAT.RES.NKB/East OKU Police/South Sumatra Police dated April 6, 2023.

"Resisting on the report, we immediately conducted an investigation and arrested the perpetrators without a fight even though the perpetrators had illegal firearms," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, April 8.

From the suspect's hands, the police confiscated evidence of five packages of methamphetamine-type drugs weighing 0.94 grams which were stored in small wallets, one clear plastic clip, a suction device, and a silver wooden assembled firearm.

"During a search at the suspect's house, an illegal firearm was found which was kept by the perpetrator in a storefront cupboard," he said.

Currently, he said, the suspect and evidence have been secured at the East OKU Police Headquarters to undergo further investigation.

"The suspect will be charged with multiple articles regarding narcotics abuse and illegal possession of firearms," he said.
