The Way Of The Cross In Semana Santa Larantuka NTT Is Held Again
JAKARTA - Pilgrims who attended the Semana Santa religious activity in Larantuka, East Flores, East Nusa Tenggara followed the Way of the Cross in memory of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ who died on the cross. Meanwhile, Santa is a Portuguese tradition that has been lived for 500 years and has only been carried out again after a three-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
"We want to reminisce about the story of Jesus' passion and interpret the values of love, especially tolerance in our lives," said Maumere pilgrim Elisa Maria in Larantuka, quoted from ANTARA, Friday, April 7.
The Way of The Cross is the first service to be performed in the series of Good Friday Semana Santa.
After the Way of the Cross at Pieta Larantuka Prayer Park, pilgrims will follow the Tuan Meninu Sea Process which is scheduled to take place at 11.00 WITA.
The Mr. Minister of Finance's sea procession started from the chapel to the Pante Kuce-Pohon Sirih. Then continued the procession of delivering the cross from the chapel to Armida-Pohon Sirih, the procession of delivering the cross of the Meliah of God's Son from Tori to Armida-Balela, the procession of delivering the Statue of Mr. Ma and Mr. Ana from the chapel to the church, the delivery process of the Missericordiae Master from the Great Coastal Chamber to Armida-Pohon Sirih, and the delivery procession of Tuan Trewa from Tori to Armida.
Next is the presentation on Good Friday at 18.00 WITA and the procession on Good Friday around Larantuka City starting at 19.00 WITA.
"I am ready to follow all of this procession until it is finished," said Jitro, a pilgrim from Timor Island who had just finished paying his respects to Mr. Ana.
Santa Larantuka has been going on from Tuesday with various series of devosi.
This religious activity was attended by more than 7,000 pilgrims from various regions.
Meanwhile, the East Nusa Tenggara Regional Police (Polda NTT) deployed 1,089 joint apparatus personnel for security during the implementation of Semana Santa which was held in Larantuka.
"There are about 1,089 personnel prepared to secure the implementation of Samana Santa in Larantuka," said Head of Public Relations of the NTT Police, Kombes Pol Ariasandy a few days ago.
