The Reason Amy Lee Doesn't Like The Rap Part Of Bring Me To Life
JAKARTA - Evanescence vocalist Amy Lee reiterated his discomfort due to pressure to put the rap segment into the iconic song Bring Me To Life.
The rap part performed by Paul Total of 12 Stones is a creative decision made by the record label. And Evanescence often talks about their dislike for the section.
When asked in an interview with Metal Hammer how he felt about rap in Bring Me To Life, this is what Amy said.
"I stopped showing it for a long time. We never really did it. (But) when we were on tour and we had someone who matched that part, they would," said Amy.
"We've been on tour with POD and we've made Sonny [Sandoval, vocalist] do it several times. And of course, if we've been in the same city as Paul [McCoy, vocalist of 12 Stones], we're going to make it appear, because it's fun and cool and reminiscent.
"But that part, the sound, it's not my style. Because it's like a pill that's hard to swallow, even on one song. But we don't have to change our whole sound just because of that rap part. "
