Dragged By The Comering River Current Up To 38.8 Km, Elementary School Boy Found Dead

A fifth grade student with the initials AN was found dead after drowning in the swift current of the Komering River, Ogan Komering Ulu Timur Regency, South Sumatra.

AN's services were found by the Search and Rescue Team (SAR), Saturday, April 1. Head of the Palembang National SAR Agency Hery Marantika, the victim was found at around 15.00 WIB.

"The victim's body was found by the field team 38.8 kilometers from the initial location where the person concerned was reported drowned," said Hery.

He explained that AN reportedly drowned and was dragged by the swift flow of water while swimming in the Komering River, Martapura, Thursday, March 30 evening.

The SAR team immediately conducted a sweep along the river with the Aqua Eye submarines along with residents.

However, due to conditions that were not possible, the SAR team in the field decided to continue sweeping the river on Saturday morning and in the afternoon the victim was found.

When found, the victim was wearing a t-shirt and shorts.

Information gathered from the SAR team in the field, currently the body of victim AN has been handed over to the family for further burial.
