Replacement Of 3 Bridges In Bali Completed In February 2023, Now Ready To Be Inaugurated

The Directorate General of Highways of the Ministry of PUPR has completed the construction of the replacement of three bridges located on Jalan Gatot Subroto Timur, precisely at the Cokroaminoto-Simpang Tohpati intersection section, Denpasar City, Bali.

This is done to improve connectivity between areas by building road and bridge infrastructure.

Head of the East Java-Bali Apri Artoto Road and Bridge Implementation Center (BBPJN) said the construction of the three bridges, namely the Tukad Bindu Bridge with a length of 53.5 meters, the Tukad Ayung Bridge with a length of 63.5 meters and the Tukad Penantih Bridge with a length of 63.5 meters, which was completed in February 2023 and ready to be inaugurated.

"The construction of these three bridges began in April 2021 by PT Brantas Abipraya (Persero) as the implementing contractor and PT Wiranta Bhuana Raya KSO PT Weistan Consultant Pembangunan, and PT Sinergi Teknik Utama as consultants. With the contract value of the construction of these three bridges amounting to Rp109.823 billion," said Apri through his official statement, quoted Wednesday, March 28.

The three bridges were previously an Australian-type steel frame bridge with a hard width of 7 meters (2 lanes) and a road pavement width of 14 meters (4 lanes, 2 lanes).

After the replacement, the three bridges are currently concrete girder construction types so that their service period is stronger and more durable.

The construction work items on the three bridges include public work, drainage, soil and geosynthetic work, grained violence, asphalt pavement, structure, and daily work.

During the construction, said Apri, his party had coordinated with the Bali Police and Denpasar Police for the convenience of road users. Moreover, the three bridges are located on the national road, which is one of the main logistics routes south of Bali Island.

"For the convenience of road users, the Ministry of PUPR has coordinated with the local police and implemented a traffic scheme during the three stages of construction work, such as the implementation of opening and closing traffic flow from the direction of Tohpati and Cokroaminoto in Phase 1," he said.

"Then, the diversion of traffic flow through widening and existing channels in Phase 2, and the opening of the road widening route by installing diversion signs when the work on dismantling existing bridges in Phase 3," he added.

Meanwhile, PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said connectivity between regions needs to be improved continuously, so that the flow of goods, services, and humans can be smoother and more efficient.

With good connectivity, it is hoped that regional economic growth will increase.

"The construction of bridge infrastructure, flyovers, and underpasses will increase connectivity between regions, in addition to providing alternatives for residents to increase economic productivity," he added.
