ASEAN Must Compact In Order To Be Able To Seize The Global Electric Vehicle Industry Market

Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko emphasized that ASEAN member countries must work hand in hand to create an electric car ecosystem in the region. Moreover, with a total population of 668 million people, ASEAN has extraordinary market strength both regionally and globally.

"ASEAN must be a common force in the electric vehicle industry, because each country has its own advantages," said Moeldoko in his statement, Monday, March 27.

The Asian Federation of Electric Vehicle Associations (AFEVA) is a combination of the electric vehicle industry association in Asia. Currently, there are 10 electric vehicle industry associations from several countries in Asia that are listed as members. Among them, the Association of Electric Vehicles from the Philippines (EVAP), Singapore (EVAS), Thailand (EVAT), and Malaysia (EVAM).

Moeldoko, who is also the chairman of the Indonesian Electric Vehicle Industry Association (Periklindo), said that Indonesia is currently developing an electric vehicle industry ecosystem from upstream to downstream. By 2030, he continued, it is targeted that 15 million units of electric vehicles, types of cars and motorbikes, will have paved.

To achieve this target, said Moeldoko, Indonesia is ready to build collaboration with ASEAN countries in realizing the electric vehicle ecosystem.

"We must join hands in the spirit of ASEAN brotherhood entering the era of electric vehicles," said Moeldoko. Meanwhile, the President of the Asian Federation of Electric Vehicle Associations (AFEVA)

"Through Moeldoko, we (AFEVA) invited the Indonesian Electric Vehicle Industry Association (Periklindo) to become members of the AFEVA," said fire.

This sporting event, who is also the President of the Philippine Electric Vehicle Association (EVAP), assessed that Periclindo's presence in AFEVA membership will contribute to the increase in the electric vehicle industry in Asia.
