Muhammadiyah: FPI Incidents Don't Cover Corruption Cases
JAKARTA - The Muhamadiyah Central Executive (PP) reminded the wider community that the incident of the killing of six members of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) does not cover the awareness of corruption cases that are rife recently.
"Do not let this case close our awareness. Because, there is a potential for crime in other forms, namely corruption," said Chairman of PP Muhammadiyah Busyro Muqoddas quoted by Antara, Tuesday, December 8.
Busyro, who also served as Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) replacing Antasari Azhar, said that currently corruption crimes are increasingly structured, systematic and massive.
"Currently, it is not only a COVID-19 pandemic but also a corruption pandemic," he said.
The four ministers who were prosecuted by the KPK during President Jokowi's term showed that corruption was increasingly systemic. This means that there are big problems that must be resolved together.
"The practice of corruption is a common enemy," he said.
According to the law degree at the Faculty of Law, Islamic University of Indonesia, the problem or handling of corruption is not only the work of the police or the KPK. However, far from that it involves all aspects of society without exception.
Karaena, he reminded not to let the death of six FPI members forget or make the public off guard so that the crime of corruption occurs.
Busyro said that every day, efforts to warn or be aware of corrupt practices require more scrutiny by all elements of society.
"This is a form of democratic responsibility," he said.
Finally, Busyro hopes that the related parties will investigate thoroughly and openly handle the death cases of six FPI members on the Jakarta-Cikampek KM 50 toll road.
