Halsey Called Grammys Take Bribes

JAKARTA - After The Weeknd voiced anger against the Grammy Awards, this time there was singer Halsey who did the same thing.

Through his Instagram Story, he said Grammys were not just music awards. "Grammys are an elusive process. It's often about private behind the scenes gigs, getting to know the right people, campaigning through the grapevine, with a right handshake," Halsey wrote.

"As well as 'bribes' that are ambiguous enough to be considered 'not bribes.' And if you get that to it, it's about committing to exclusive television shows and making sure you help the Recording Academy make millions of dollars from award night commercials."

He thinks The Weeknd deserves better, as well as Halsey's latest album, Manic, which should receive appreciation.

Although not accusing the Grammy in full, Halsey's statement suggests that this award ceremony is not only about music appreciation but how someone can bring benefits to the Grammy.

Previously, Grammy director Harvey Mason Jr. answer The Weeknd's claims. Mason said, the selection process was carried out legally and the selection of nominations did not depend on the Grammys but also on the members of the Recording Academy.

Apart from Halsey, there were Drake, Charlie Puth, Elton John and Kid Cudi who voiced their disappointment with this year's Grammy nominations. However, the Recording Academy was reluctant to respond to Halsey's claim.
