BKPM: West Java Becomes The Number One Investment Destination Province For Local And Foreign Investors
JAKARTA - The Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) noted that investment realization in Indonesia until September 2020 reached IDR 611.6 trillion from a total target of IDR 817.2 trillion. Of this total, West Java is the number one investment destination for both Domestic Investment (PMDN) and Foreign Investment (PMA).
BKPM Head Bahlil Lahadalia said the difference in investment between Java and outside Java is very small. He said, for Java Island it was worth IDR 307.5 trillion or 50.3 percent, while for Outside Java it was IDR 304.1 trillion or 49.7 percent.
Furthermore, Bahlil said that the Rp611.6 trillion realization position between Java and outside Java had a very slight difference, only 0.3 percent.
"I give high appreciation to the regional government of West Java province because of the realization of investment from Rp611.67, both PMDN and PMA, West Java came out as the number one province," he said, at the West Java Investment Summit, Monday, November 16.
The total investment recorded by the province of West Java until September 2020 is around IDR 86.3 trillion.
"During the last 3 years West Java has always been a destination for investment, both PMA and PMDN," he said.
Bahlil revealed, even though West Java's regional minimum wage (UMR) is higher than Central Java, this province is still an investment destination for investors.
According to Bahlil, this is due to the consideration of the productivity of the workforce in West Java which is considered satisfactory to investors.
"In several visits, we also visited several countries, seeing West Java as one of the areas they were aiming for, even though the UMR was higher than that of Central Java province. After we checked, it turned out that the productivity level of the workforce in West Java was quite satisfying for investors, "he said.
