Sony Starts Exploring Drone Market With Airpeak
JAKARTA - Sony announced its latest line of gadgets by entering the drone or drone business. Carrying the Airpeak brand, Sony is ready to challenge DJI and other drone manufacturers.
Although not fully disclosed, the teaser video of the drone made by a Japanese technology manufacturer has aired on Sony's official channels. From his official blog upload, Sony said that his drone will launch in early spring of 2021.
As reported by TechCrunch, this drone made by Sony will be different from any other drone on the market. Relying on imaging and sensing technology, as well as 3R (Reality, Real-time and Remote) capabilities are the selling points of Sony's drones.
Sony also embeds artificial intelligence / AI-based robotic technology, so that its drones can do new things. In particular, in terms of drone maneuverability while in the air and its ability to take pictures.
It is highly likely that the drones made by Sony will later be able to avoid various obstacles, recognize objects and navigate independently without human operator intervention.
Previously, Sony had announced a drone project called "Aerosense" which was developed with the robotics company ZMP, in 2015. It's just that the project was made limitedly for surveying or mapping activities, and was not mass-produced.
Only then did Sony's technology division begin to focus on developing drone aircraft independently. There is no more complete information regarding the drones made by Sony, in terms of size, specifications and prices.
Considering the price of drones on the market is quite varied. For example, DJI, which recently launched the Mavic Mini 2 with the ability to record 4K video and can broadcast for 30 minutes, is sold at a price range of Rp. 6 million.
