During The Pandemic, 40 Medical Workers In Cianjur Positive For COVID-19

JAKARTA - The Cianjur Health Office, West Java, recorded that during the COVID-19 pandemic, 40 medical personnel on duty at a number of health care centers and hospitals in Cianjur, tested positive for COVID-19.

The 40 people are dominated by nurses and midwives, but most of them have recovered after undergoing isolation in special villas.

Spokesperson for the Cianjur Covid-19 Coordination and Information Center, Dr. Yusman Faisal, said of the 40 people, six of them were doctors who served in hospitals and puskesmas.

"Most of the midwives and nurses were exposed when providing services to the community or patients who came to the puskesmas. For nurses there were those who were exposed after serving positive or reactive COVID-19 patients," he said.

He explained that medical personnel had a high risk of exposure because every day they met many different people, making them vulnerable to being exposed to dangerous viruses. However, most have recovered after undergoing isolation in special villas in Pacet District.

Although all this time he said, the health office has implemented strict health protocols and provided medical personnel with complete Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), they are still vulnerable to exposure to dangerous viruses when meeting and having direct contact with positive or reactive patients.

"Medical personnel are susceptible to exposure even while on duty using PPE, when the immune system decreases, the virus quickly enters the body's organs. After receiving treatment and treatment in a special villa, everything is recovered and has returned to work as before," he said.

The Health Office noted that until now, there were 239 positive COVID-19 patients in Cianjur, 135 recovered after undergoing isolation in a special villa and 104 other people undergoing isolation with their health conditions continuing to improve and having undergone second and third swab tests.

"Currently, the health condition of patients who are still undergoing virgins in special villas continues to improve and some of them will soon be allowed to return home because the results of the second and third swab tests showed negative results," said Yusman.
